Can You Automate a Prop Firm Account? 7 Checks Before Connecting a Trading Bot

Permission comes first. Then verify the route, test the failure cases, and read the evidence before any live use.

The short answer

You can automate only when your firm, program, account phase, platform, and account permissions allow the exact workflow you plan to use. A green light for one tool or phase is not permission for every bot or copier.

01

Read the current agreement for your exact account

A firm's general help page may not cover your program, account phase, platform, or strategy. Check the agreement and rules that apply to the exact account you plan to connect. If the wording is unclear, ask the firm before you automate.

02

Name the type of automation

A TradingView alert router, trade copier, expert advisor, and unattended trading bot are not the same thing. A firm may allow one and restrict another. Describe the actual software and order path when you confirm permission.

03

Verify the route, not just the logo

A listed firm does not prove that every account can place orders through every connection. Check the current FirmGated connection directory, the required broker or platform access, and the permissions on your own account.

04

Map the rules you must protect

Write down the daily loss, drawdown, contract, session, news, consistency, and payout conditions that apply. FirmGated can show recorded evidence and checks, but the firm's current agreement remains the controlling source.

05

Decide what happens when data is missing

A safe setup needs a clear response to stale prices, expired credentials, a broker outage, an unknown rule, or a rejected order. Choose whether the route should warn, require approval, pause, or block where that control is available.

06

Test the whole path on a paper or demo account

Test entries, exits, duplicate alerts, rejected symbols, reconnects, and the activity record before using live capital. An evaluation account is still governed by firm rules and can carry fees or account consequences. It is not the same as risk free paper trading.

07

Review the evidence before you enable unattended routing

Confirm that each test reached the intended account once, used the intended quantity, produced the expected safeguard result, and left a complete record. If any step is uncertain, keep manual approval on or leave the route disabled.

Decision rule

If permission, route status, or test evidence is uncertain, do not enable unattended live routing. Keep manual approval on, use a paper or demo account, or wait until the uncertainty is resolved.
